FAQs Microneedling
Can I dermaroll if I have botox or Juvederm?
Yes, but it is advisable to wait 2 weeks after injection.
After dermarolling, how long should I wait before washing my face, or applying skin care products or makeup?
This depends on the size of the roller that was used: With a 0.25 and 0.5 mm dermaroller you can do it the next morning, or after about 12 hours. With a 1.0 mm, it is recommended to wait a full day, 24 hours.
Can I use a dermaroller after waxing?
Do not use a dermaroller of any size on recently tweezed, waxed or threaded areas. These areas are usually tender, and dermarolling on sensitized skin can increase the chance of an unwanted reaction.
How long should your dermarolling session last?
You will receive a gentle cleaning and preparation of the body area. on the area, we will use either a manual or electric needling and post cleanup, the appointment should take about 30 minutes.
Will dermarolling cause any bleeding?
It is rare to bleed with my dermarolling technique and relatively shallow depth of our needles. The longer the needle, the more chance you have to experience very slight bleeding in areas where the skin is closer to bone. Generally clients do not experience any bleeding with our length needles. Bleeding is more common with physician length needles.
Am I a Good Candidate for Microneedling?
Thanks to its low-risk process, microneedling is a great option for those who are not good candidates for other treatment options, like lasers. Microneedling is suitable for all skin types, including darker skin tones where lasers can cause hypo pigmentation.
The best way to determine whether microneedling is right for you is to schedule a personal consultation with Jaime, Owner and over 12 years experienced licensed aesthetician. During your consultation, we will assess your skin, discuss your goals and recommend the procedure that best suits your needs. Microneedling may be the ideal treatment to provide the look you desire. Perhaps a different procedure or combination of treatments may be recommended to meet your goals.
Are your needles made out of stainless steel?
dermaroller needles are made of surgical stainless steel (which is why they are so sharp).
Can I use a dermaroller if I have active acne?
You should never dermaroll if you have active acne, cold sores or any raised or patchy skin abnormalities.
How long will it take me to see results?
Microneedle therapy is a long-term, cumulative process. Permanent reduction in wrinkles and scars occurs when new collagen and elastin are stimulated, and new skin is generated. You will usually see results within 4 to 8 treatments.
Is there anything else I can use if I don’t want to use alcohol directly on my face to sterilize before dermarolling?
Jaime recommends using rubbing alcohol because it is the best form of disinfectant. Witch hazel is another acceptable form of disinfectant. Some clients have mentioned using other products, but alcohol and witch hazel are the two products we recommend for the best disinfecting. If you experience sensitivity to alcohol, you can wash your face with distilled water afterward to neutralize. I do not recommend tap water, as it contains impurities.
What are the best products to put on my face after dermarolling?
we recommend hyaluronic acid serums, Vitamin C and peptides, we carry Circadia products that work great.
After I dermaroll I experience redness and a sensation that feels like a sunburn, is this normal?
Yes, both of these outcomes are typical reactions to the action of dermarolling. The longer the needle tip, the longer these responses might last, because of deeper penetration. In general redness should last no longer than 12 hours, and the “sunburn” sensation should last no more than 24 hours.
What to Expect Immediately After Dermarolling
This is one of the questions that gets asked a lot. There are a few things you will likely notice immediately following and the days after your dermarolling appointment.
· Your skin will likely be red, although this should fade in less than 24 hours.
· It may feel irritated and hot. You can apply a cool, damp washcloth to your skin afterward. Avoid any products that may cause irritation to open skin.
· The following days your skin might be itchy. Much like if you have ever gotten a tattoo or scraped your knee, when the wound begins to heal it will be itchy.
· Your skin may have initial plumpness to it that makes it seem smoother. If this happens right away, the results are not lasting, unfortunately. But don’t get discouraged, the real results are coming.
How Long Will It Take to See Results?
This is entirely dependent on the severity of your loose skin and how committed you are to receiving consistent treatments.
science tells us that most of the collagen in our skin is located in the dermis, below the epidermis. Hence why longer needles are often more effective. So, in order for the collagen to reproduce and then have a visible impact on the epidermis can take weeks.
Most estheticians agree that it takes around six weeks to notice a difference in the skin after dermarolling. The continued improvement of the skin can be seen for around six months to a year with continued treatments.
Another thing to consider is your diet. Drinking plenty of water helps your skin stay hydrated and youthful. Also consider adding some nutrient-dense smoothies or meals to your day to ensure you are getting proper vitamins and minerals.
And lastly, dermarolling is sadly not the cure-all. If the severity of your loose or saggy skin is a lot, this likely won’t give you a model’s stomach. But, if you are looking for a way to tighten up some of your loose skin, this is an effective and scientifically proven method to help do so.
